3 members of a family, including a 7-year-old boy, were killed in a tragic incident of a wall collapse in Kotamma Basti of Vijayanagar Colony near Masab Tank here on Thursday.
The deceased - Parvati (45), her daughter-in-law Lakshmi (25) and Janardhan (7) were killed when a wall of an adjoining private college building collapsed on their thatched house.
2 others including a minor boy Srihari were injured in the incident, and were rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.
They victims are reported to be natives of Bhimavaram in West Godavari district.
The incident occurred at around 6am on Thursday. On hearing the noise, neighbours rushed to the rescue, and also informed the Humayun Nagar police.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation team immediately rushed to the spot and rescued 2 members from the debris. The 3 corpses have been recovered from the spot.
Secunderabad MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar, MLC Prabhakar, DCP West Zone Satyanarayana, ACP G P Vinod Kumar and other officials also reached the spot immediately.
There atmosphere became tense as neighbours refused to allow the authorities to shift the bodies to the OGH mortuary till they promise adequate compensation and better treatment for the injured. (INN)
