The collapse of the under construction five-storeyed building in Nanakramguda last month was due to its weak foundation, inadequate design and excessive load on columns causing structural instability and sudden failure, as per studies.
The building owned by one Satyanarayan Singh, which collapsed on the night of December 8, had claimed 11 lives and injured several others. The investigation by the Greater Hyderaba Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and JNTU engineers further revealed that the owner constructed stilt for parking in addition to five floors and a pent house without obtaining building permission from the municipal body.
It was also found that the builder had obtained permissions only for ground floor in addition to three floors.
