A three-day-long yagam, a Raja Syamala Yagam, began at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's farmhouse at Erravelli village of Siddipet district today.
KCR along with his wife Shobha took part in the yagam and performed special rituals under the supervision of Visakhapatnam Sarada Peetadhipatis Swami Swaroopanandendra and Swatmanandendra.
A total of 170 priests from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are participating in the yagam, which has been named the Raja Syamala Sahitha Subrahmanyeswara Yagam.
After performing the gopuja, the KCR couple entered the yagashala and, after offering respects to Swami Swaroopanandendra, began the yagam. The yagam started with the performing of special rituals, including Ganapathi puja, punya havachanam and panchagavya prasana. The swamiji then performed a special puja to goddess Raja Syamala who is the presiding deity of the Visakha Sarada Peetham. KCR and his wife handed over the special clothes for the yagam to the priests who were participating in the rituals.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Swaroopanandendra explained the importance of the Raja Syamala yagam, and said that while the Rudra, Chandi and Vanadurga homas were held everywhere, the Raja Syamala Yagam which was being held here was unique.
He claimed that Telangana becoming "prosperous" and Hyderabad turning into an "international city" was the result of a previous Raja Syamala Yagam by KCR.
