Telangana SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar today said that the government would erect a 125-feet Ambedkar statue near Hussain Sagar in the city.
The government had finalized the tenders for the purpose, the minister said.
This would be the biggest Ambedkar statue in India, and the state government had allotted Rs 100 crore for this project, he added.
The minister was speaking after visiting the site where the statue will be installed.
The statue would come up in 12-15 months, and, along with the related structures to come up alongside it, would explain the greatness of Ambedkar and the constitution of India that he wrote, Eshwar said.
The statue will comprise a base representing and resembling the Parliament, 50 feet in height.
