Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said that she had not been invited by the State government to attend the unveiling of the 125-feet-tall Dr B R Ambedkar statue.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a book release programme held at the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) in Tarnaka today, the Governor found fault with the State government for not extending an invitation to her, saying that if she were invited she would have attended the program.
"I was really quite disappointed and surprised at not being invited for the prestigious program. Dr B R Ambedkar used to speak about women's development, and had fought for the rights of women. Unfortunately, despite a woman being the Governor of the State, the respect was not being given to the chair," Soundararajan said.
She said that since the government hadn't invited her to attend the program, she had offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar at the Raj Bhavan.
