Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao unveiled the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at the Punjagutta circle today.
Rao was accompanied by ministers Koppula Eshwar, Mahmood Ali and Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLA Danam Nagender, and GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi and other corporators.
Recollecting the services of Ambedkar for the country, KTR said that if Ambedkar were not born, there would be no Telangana, as Telangana State was formed because of the Indian Constitution drafted by Ambedkar.
He added that the launch of the Dalit Bandhu scheme was a revolutionary decision taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and that thousands of dalits were reaping benefits under it.
The minister also said that just as the new Telangana Secretariat building was being named after B R Ambedkar, the union government should name the new Parliament building after Ambedkar.
