The Mayor urged the corporators to create awareness among the public that construction waste should not be dumped in unauthorised places.
A meeting of the GHMC Standing Committee chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi was held today. The committee members approved 10 resolutions at the meeting, the Mayor said.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayalakshmi directed the corporation officials to resolve the issues raised by the members at the earliest. Specifically, she urged the corporators to create awareness among the public that construction waste should not be dumped in unauthorised places, and also asked them to be part of the distribution of clay idols.
GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose said that construction and demolition waste was being dumped on roads, footpaths, canals and ponds in unauthorised places. He said that two temporary points had been set up in each zone to prevent waste from being dumped elsewhere in those areas, and that there would be no difficulties in carrying out the construction waste to the C&D plant.
Commenting on the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi, he said that a total of 4 lakh idols would be distributed through the GHMC, with 2800 to 3,000 idols distributed to each division of the corporation from the division's ward office.
Standing Committee members Shanti Saijen Shekhar, Syed Minhazuddin, Syed Sohel Qadri, Sameena Begum, Abdul Wahab, Mohammad Abdul Mukhtar, Mohammed Rasheed Farazuddin, Vanam Sangeetha Yadav, Satish Babu Pandala and R Sudhakaran were present at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Commissioner Ronald Rose, EVDM Director Prakash Reddy, ENC Zia Uddin, Housing OSD Suresh Kumar, Additional Commissioners Sneha Sabarish, Yadagiri Rao, Chandrakanth Reddy, Jayaraj Kennedy, Vijayalakshmi, Geetha Radhika and Upender Reddy, CCP Rajendra Prasad Nayak, CE Devanand, Chief Examiner Venkateswarlu, SNDP C E Venkanna, Secretary Lakshmi and others.
