The State Police is planning to appoint at least one woman constable in all police stations in AP, in order to check crimes against women.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday, Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy said that to prevent attacks on women and sexual assault on children, particularly girls, the department would appoint one woman constable in every police station in the state.
He said that the government is serious about sringent action against assault and harassment on women.
The DGP said that one woman constable would be appointed at each police station to specifically deal with such cases. Apart from the appointment of woman constables, he said, the government would set up 2 cells in every police station to register such complaints.
Dinesh Reddy said that the separate cells would also create awareness among women and provide legal assistance to them whenever required. (INN)
