The EV & DM department of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) today launched a portal to display and make payments for e-challans for civic offences like throwing Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste and garbage in public places, open urination etc.
Addressing the media, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that as part of providing a clean environment to the citizens, one of the exercises that the corporation was taking up was checking littering, garbage dumping, C&D waste dumping, graffiti/posters on walls, and unauthorized banners in the corporation limits.
He said that the GHMC was initiating steps to levy fines on people indulging in the above offences through e-challans, which were generated through the filling of pre-filled forms having the categories of offences, with the fines levied automatically according to the nature of the offence.
He said that the challans would consist of the details of the violations, with photos and videos.
He also said that e-challans had the advantages of being contact-less, fool-proof, uneditable / undeletable and resulting in cashless transactions.
He said that once the challans were generated and the copies were served on the offenders, they needed to pay the challan fee either in the office or online.
Further elaborating on the e-challans, the Director of EV & MD Viswajit Kampati explained that the system was developed in such a way that once an e-challan was generated there was no scope for any type of allegations or discrepancies.
It will be good if warning is given to offender before they are treated as offender's. Some are not aware due to lack of education and could be various other reasons. If same mistake is repeated then he or she deserves you be penalized.
