The GHMC is contemplating heavy fines against those throwing construction debris waste in nalas, lakes and so on unauthorizedly in the city.
The offence will be viewed seriously and the vehicles carrying such debris will be seized besides huge penalties being imposed.
A review meeting with regard to such waste was held by the Mayor and the Commissioner, and was attended by the officials of the connected departments dealing with civil engineering works in the twin cities.
Addressing the officials, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that some 2,000 tons of C&D waste was generated each day in the GHMC limits and the surroundings. The Mayor directed all the concerned officials to create awareness about the new rules as and when they came up, among the contractors and other relevant people.
