GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy today warned that a fine would be imposed on shop owners, business establishments and pushcart sellers who failed to install dustbins for garbage disposal in front of their premises.
The Commissioner was holding a meeting with Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Medical Officers and engineers on Swachh Survekshan 2018, where he said that it was the responsibility of businessmen and traders to adhere to the guidelines of the GHMC for keeping the city garbage-free.
He instructed the officers to impose fines on the shops, business establishments and others responsible for garbage being thrown in their vicinity.
Reddy also instructed GHMC officials to monitor sanitisation works and developmental works taken up by the corporation in the localities assigned to them.
He said that women caretakers should be appointed to look into and maintain the SHE-toilets.
The Commissioner also expressed unhappiness at the works taken up by the outsourced booth-level officers for voter list amendments, and directed that retired persons be appointed locally for carrying out the works.
The Commissioner also asked the officers to dispose of all complaints not related to money matters that were received during a function attended by Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao, within a week.
