Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will hold a cabinet meeting at Pragati Bhavan on Thursday and Friday to decide on the fate of the TSRTC, its employees' jobs and other issues.
KCR is expected to come up with a proposal for a VRS to TSRTC employees above 50 years of age.
The TSRTC has 49,300 employees, and after the huge losses incurred due to the strike, the government is not ready to take the 48,000+ staff who went on strike back. It is being said that KCR may decide to offer VRS to about 20,000 of them above the age of 50 as per norms, and adjust them in some other departments most likely as contract staff.
Also, with the High court nod, 5,100 bus routes are to go to private operators, and KCR is also set to take a call on giving final route permits to private carriers.
The meeting gains importance as the State government is to take some harsh measures to set right the ailing TSRTC. Unhappy with the 2-month-long strike, the State government has declined to take the workers back, and they are on the streets battling for their jobs.
