As many as 500 garbage collection tricycles were distributed among 150 wards of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday.
The GHMC Standing Committee had earlier sanctioned Rs. 44 lakh to procure 500 new tricycles.
These tricycles will be the part of 6063 garbage collection vehicles.
These 6063 tricycles cover around 92% of households in areas under door-to-door garbage collection network.
The Standing Committee had given its nod for the procurement of the tricycles. These tricycles are not sufficient for the present requirement. Corporators and Colony Welfare Associations had been requesting replacement of the old and damaged
rickshaws in their areas.
The Standing Committee had requested the zonal commissioners to assess the urgent requirement of tricycles in consultation with the corporators, ward committees members, area sabhas and colony welfare associations, and procure upto 250 tricycles per zone through open tenders.
garbage collection tricycles boys are very irregular, indecent behavior and don't charge uniformly. Do citizen have any option to change them or complaint about them for better service. After all it is not free service.
