A team of noted Islamic scholars had met to try and possibly sight the new moon heralding the arrival of Shawwal.

Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the state on Saturday, as the new moon was not sighted on Thursday.

This was disclosed by a team of noted Islamic scholars under the aegis of the Central Ruiyat-e-Hilal Committee, Hyderabad Deccan.

The Committee had met at the Hussaini Building, Moazzam Jahi Market, on Thursday evening, to try and possibly sight the new moon heralding the arrival of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.

Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan Secretary-General and Muslim Personal Law Board member Moulana Syed Qubul Pasha Shuttari, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Nizamia Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Jamia Nizami Head Mufti Mohammed Azeemuddin, Amir-e-Jamia Nizamia Moulana Syed Akbar Nizamuddin, Chairman United Sunni Federation of India Moulana Syed Auliya Hussaini, and Moulana Syed Mahmood Pasha Zarinkula were present at the meeting.
