Andhra Pradesh's ruling YSR Congress Party today announced the names of its four candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in the State.
The four persons are incumbent MP V Vijayasai Reddy, industrialist Beeda Masthan Rao, senior advocate S Niranjan Reddy and BC leader R Krishnaiah.
Interestingly, Krishnaiah and Niranjan Reddy belong to Telangana.
The seats are going to fall vacant in June this year, and the ruling party is likely to bag all the four seats given its strength in the State Assembly.
Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party boss Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the party had nominated Krishnaiah and Masthan Rao under the BC category to ensure social justice.
Krishnaiah is a former MLA, and President of the National BC Association. Masthan Rao, 64, is a former MLA for Kavali.
Vijayasai Reddy is getting a second stint in recognition of his dedicated services to the party. A chartered accountant by profession, Reddy, 65, was born in Thallapudi of Nellore district.
Niranjan Reddy, 52, is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court and Telangana High Court. He hails from Nirmal district of Telangana.
