The YSR Congress Party is all set for its next state-wide blitzkrieg focusing on the plight of farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The drive will take place on Monday, the 13th of June.
Party workers will lead farmers in picketing District Collectorates across Andhra Pradesh, demanding a host of measures for the agriculture sector.
YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy himself will lead farmers at the Chittoor District Collectorate.
YSR Congress Party MLC Jupudi Prabhakar Rao said the party's stand on several issues is similar to that of the Left. In fact, invited the Left in their plan to picket District Collectorates, saying the Left parties are "welcome to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the YSR Congress Party and fight for the farmers' rights".
He lamented the fact that the Congress government in the state has not continued to implement the schemes that Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had kickstarted - including free power and waivers of farmers' loans.
The demands of the YSR Congress Party include the government stabilizing the market by procuring paddy from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
