Demanding that the TDP government release a white paper and a calendar announcing categorically when its poll promises would be fulfilled besides giving a joint statement with bankers on the loan waiver, the YSR Congress has said that the government will be questioned by the people during the Janmabhoomi programme.
"The TDP is drifting away from the Gandhji's principles of truth and non-violence as it has been telling stark lies on the loan waiver and other poll promises, and has been carrying out attacks on political adversaries besides encouraging defections," party general secretary Ummareddy Venkateswarulu told reporters on Thursday.
He demanded that the State Government release a white paper with a full calendar as to when the election promises would be fulfilled, and also hold a joint press conference with bankers to allay the fears of farmers and bring clarity on the loan waiver issue.
The farmers were in the dark and did not know when their documents would be released and when the government would pay to banks to clear their loans, he said.
The loan waiver issue had been heavily diluted, he alleged, adversely affecting the farmers, women's self-help groups, weavers and other sections, while the job-for-every-house scheme had not taken off neither had the unemployment stipend been paid, which showed that the government had scant respect for the welfare schemes.
"Chandrababu Naidu made about 40 promises during the electioneering, and none of them has been implemented in the true spirit so far. The loan waiver issue has been diluted with many conditions, with the latest being the issue of bonds and the clearing of the debt in 5 installments, but there is no clarity on that either," Venkateswarulu said.
Though the closing down of belt shops was one of the core promises of the TDP, the finance minister focusing on excise revenue as the main source of income for the exchequer showed the double standards of the government, he raged.
"The failures of the government will be questioned by the people and the Opposition during the Janmabhoomi programme, and we demand that the State be very categorical and bring out a calendar as to when it will implement the poll promises," he said. (INN)
