Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, on Thursday, said that the YSR Congress had decided to support UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections as he was suitable to that post.
Talking to media persons at Lotus Pond, Mekapati hoped that Pranab Mukherjee would do justice to the post and bring laurels to the country. He dismissed reports that appeared in a section of media stating that YSRCP was supporting Pranab as part of a quid pro quo agreement.
He said that there was no need for the YSRCP to come to an understanding with the Congress, which itself, he said, is in a "pathetic" state after the drubbing in the recent by-elections.
Unable to tackle the YSRCP and Jaganmohan Reddy politically, other political parties are leveling baseless charges against the party and trying to tarnish its image, he claimed.
He also said that the people of the state were hoping that the YSRC would rule the state, and that the recent by-election results have proved it. (INN)
