The Parliamentary Party and Telangana Legislature Party of the YSR Congress met at Lotus Pond today and passed a resolution authorising the Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to announce the leaders in both the Houses.
Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy told the media after the meeting on Saturday that the Party would play a constructive role and extend issue-based support to the NDA government, but that at the same time the State's interests would be high on the agenda.
Brushing aside rumours that some more MLAs/MPs would leave the Party, he said that they were united, and would continue to take up people's issues and work for the betterment of the State and the country, as stated by the Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
P Srinivasa Reddy, the Khammam MP, echoed the same feelings.
They said that the Polavaram issue would be taken up in Parliament, and would be debated as there were some loopholes in the Ordinance.
The 3 MLAs from Khammam, Thati Venkateswalru, P Venkateswarlu and Madan lal, said that they would be with the people, and play a constructive role in the development of the Telangana state.
They denied the rumours that they were shifting to the TRS. "No one contacted us, and we are not ready to cross over. We will work under the leadership of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. We will extend issue-based support to TRS," they said.
Later, addressing the media at the Party office, Party leader Jyothula Nehru listed out the minute-to-minute program of the review meetings Jagan would be having on June 4, 5 and 6, in which Parliamentary constituencies and relevant assembly segments would come under review.
The meeting would be held at Rajahmundry in the first phase, and analyses would be done with the leaders and contestants of the 5 districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, he said.
On the Polavaram Project, he said that it should come up as a multipurpose project as envisioned by YSR, and should be useful to both Seemandhra and Telangana.
"After we have parted like brothers, there is no point in making it a big issue," he added. (INN)
