YSRCP MPs Urge LS Speaker To Accept Resignations
The five YSR Congress MPs who submitted their resignations met Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today and urged her to accept the resignations immediately.
The five YSR Congress Party MPs who submitted their resignations met Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan this evening at her office and urged her to accept the resignations with immediate effect.
The MPs told the Speaker that Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh was more important than their posts.
For the uninitiated, in protest against the Centre not conceding SCS to Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP MPs had submitted their resignations in the official format on April 6 to the Speaker.
The MPs later gathered at Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy's residence in Delhi. Speaking to the media, Reddy said that they had requested the Speaker to accept their resignations immediately. He also reiterated that they would go to any extent for the sake of SCS to AP.
"Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is afraid of facing by-elections and hence did not ask his MPs to resign. The AP CM is feeling insecure due to the note-for-vote case and financial misappropriation cases," he added.
