Actor Krishna Felicitated For Alluri Seetharama Raju
Yesteryear Tollywood actor Krishna was felicitated by union minister G Kishan Reddy today on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Alluri Seetharama Raju.
Yesteryear Tollywood actor Krishna was felicitated by Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy today on the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Alluri Seetharama Raju.
The minister also felicitated some other persons on the occasion.
Krishna had played the freedom fighter in a Telugu film named after the latter, which was also a huge hit.
Addressing the gathering later, Reddy said that the union government had decided to identify freedom fighters who had not been yet recognised, as part of its Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav, and that Seetharama Raju was one of them.
He said that Seetharama Raju had sent shivers in the hearts of the ertswhile British rulers with his brave and courageous acts, and that many countrymen had turned courageous themselves thank to Raju. He also said that Raju was the Telugu freedom fighter who fought for the country the most.
To highlight the martyr's greatness, the union government was holding a prestigious program in New Delhi, Reddy announced. The government was also building a museum themed after Raju at Lambasingi of Visakhapatnam district by spending Rs 38 crore, and had also sanctioned Rs 18 crore for the construction of a similar museum in Hyderabad, he added.
He said that he would visit to the native place of Raju on the 13th of this month.
