Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the latter had failed to teach a befitting lesson to Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident.
The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to the statue of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat on the latter's death anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that the Prime Minister had taken a step back in retaliating against Pakistan over the Pahalgam incident, and that the current Union government found itself in a weakened position - possibly requiring a ceasefire as claimed by US President Donald Trump.
He claimed that every citizen remembered the fighting spirit of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the times of crisis. "Known as Iron Lady, Indira Gandhi taught Pakistan a strong lesson by responding decisively to terrorist attacks instigated by the neighbouring country. She had said that India did not need any foreign mediation, as the nation was strong enough to defend itself. The current Prime Minister appears to be acting under the influence of the American President," the CM said.
The Chief Minister also criticised Union Minister Kishan Reddy for attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in an attempt to cover up his own inefficacy, and alleged that BJP leaders were targeting Rahul Gandhi to conceal their own incompetence.
"Kishan Reddy is in deep slumber. The Congress came forward and extended its unflinching support to the Centre at the time of the Pahalgam incident. But instead of acknowledging this, Kishan Reddy continues to criticise Rahul Gandhi," he said.
The Chief Minister also condemned those who opposed the installation of Rajiv Gandhi's statue near the Secretariat, calling them narrow-minded for their criticism of the late Prime Minister.
