YSR Congress Party president and Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy welcomed the Andhra Pradesh government's decision of setting up the new capital of the State at Vijayawada.
However, Jagan said that the decision should have been taken after a discussion on the issue in the State Legislative Assembly.
He said that his Party had no objection to the location of the new capital, and it only opposed the manner in which the decision was announced.
He said that the YSRCP would give its constructive suggestions on the development of the new capital.
Jagan said that the new capital would require nearly 30,000 acres of land, and that the land-pooling mechanism being proposed by State government would lead to sharp rise in the prices of land, benefitting landlords. (INN)
