After the rejection of his bail by the AP High Court, YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the prime accused in the disproportionate assets case, who is languishing in Chanchalguda Jail, on Monday, moved a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking bail.
In his petition, Jagan stated that he was cooperating fully with the Central Bureau Of Investigation in the probe, and that therefore, he must be granted bail.
He also said that he was the head of a recognised political party, and had to utilize his franchise in the presidential election as a responsible MP.
He said that all the charges leveled by the CBI were "politically motivated", and that the agency has so far not provided substantial evidence to prove its charges.
Jagan also appealed to the apex court to set aside the High Court's orders rejecting his bail.
It may be mentioned here that the High Court has quashed Jagan's bail petition after hearing the arguments of noted criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani. (INN)
