Officials of the Enforcement Directorate, on Friday, began the questioning of YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy over the alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
A team from the Enforcement Directorate began Jagan's questioning at Chanchalguda Central Prison, at about 10am on Friday. As per the High Court's directives, the questioning was done in the presence of Jagan's lawyers.
The ED officials reportedly questioned Jagan about investments into Jagathi Publications made from Malaysia, Singapore and Luxembourg.
Sources say that the ED had specific questions related to alleged hawala operations that were employed to route investments into Jagathi Publications.
The questioning went on till 5pm, with an hours lunch break at about 1pm. ED officials will resume questioning on Saturday.
It may be mentioned here that on 6 July, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has permitted the Enforcement Directorate to question Jagan between 7 and 21 July. Jagan was booked by the ED for violating FEMA and PMLA, and the ED had sought the court's permission to question him. (INN)
