The most recent development in Y S Jaganmohan's case might just be the most decisive one, as the disgraced YSRCP leader was produced before a special CBI court on June 7, and the 5th chargesheet filed against him was reviewed by the court.
On Friday, Jagan was brought to the Nampally special court, in a bullet-proof vehicle, from the Chanchalguda Central prison. Earlier, the court had demanded that Jagan be physically present when the 5th chargesheet against him (the one which lists Dalmia Cements as one of the accused) is reviewed in court.
The 5th chargesheet, outlining the alleged involvement of firms like Dalmia Cements, Eeswar Cements, and Raghuram Cements in Jagan's quid pro quo deals, was filed by the CBI on April 8, and the court had issued summons to all the 13 individuals/organisations named in the list.
Former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, who was the fourth accused in the chargesheet, also appeared in court, along with Jagan. The court has reportedly taken cognizance of the provisions under the IPC and the Prevention Of Corruption Act against Sabitha.
Others who have been accused in the 5th chargesheet (apart from Jagan and Sabitha Indra Reddy), include Jagan's financial advisor Vijaya Sai Reddy, suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, and the then Andhra Pradesh Director of Mines V D Rajagopal. It has been reported that in the hearing, the court extended the Jagan's judicial remand till June 21.
It was also reported by several witnesses that Jagan's mother and YSRCP honorary president, Y S Vijayamma broke down into tears on seeeing her son in court, during the hearing. When Jagan expressed a desire to console his distressed mother, the court allowed him to spend an hour with his family. Earlier, the police had prevented Jagan's family members from entering the court premises. (INN)
