YSR Congress President Jaganmohan Reddy, on Thursday, came down heavily on the state government for what he called "leaving the farmers to their fate".
In a press statement following the conclusion of his 2-day deeksha at Armoor in Nizamabad district, Jaganmohan Reddy criticized the government for not responding to farmers' woes despite several agitations and dharnas.
He said that the farmers were in a dire condition, and that the government has not taken up any relief measures in the drought-affected districts.
Jagan said that there were no political motives behind the "deeksha".
Reiterating that the former chief minister YSR worked for the welfare of farmers, he alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has failed in responding to farmers' issues.
He demanded that the Chief Minister take steps to supply 9 hours of steady power supply, establish a corporate fund, and speed up the completion of the irrigation projects.
"At least now the government should open its eyes and take concrete steps towards farmers' issues," he said.
Jagan also criticized Telugu Desam Chief N Chandrababau Naidu for what he called the shedding of "crocodile tears" on farmers' woes. (INN)
