The dead body of domestic worker Nalapudi Pallalamma, who died in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia, arrived 218 days after her death.
According to Migrants Rights Council vice-president M Bheem Reddy, Pallalamma's body reached the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Monday morning at about 11.59am, through Saudi Airlines flight no. SV-754.
However, he said that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and Saudi Airlines had not informed her family members about the arrival of the dead body, in advance.
Bheem Reddy said that the family members are unable to pay the luggage charges and customs formalities to claim the dead body and baggage.
The husband of the deceased, Nalapudi Verriyya, lives in Kothapet of East Godavari district, about 450km away from Hyderabad. He will reach the Hyderabad airport on Tuesday morning to receive the dead body.
The Andhra Pradesh NRI Cell has arranged a free ambulance to transport the dead body from the airport to Kothapet. The dead body too has been air-lifted free of cost, but the family will have to pay Rs. 3,500 to claim 8 kg of baggage, and for other customs formalities. (INN)
