The body of the Telugu software engineer Ralla Janagama Madhukar Reddy, who committed suicide at his flat in Seattle in the US last week, arrived in his home town Bhongir on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old engineer was found hanging from a fan in his house in Seattle on April 4. His wife is also working as a software professional in the northwestern US city. The couple, who had recently moved to their new home, had a seven-year-old daughter. They had been having marital conflicts for some time, and that was stated to be the reason behind Reddy's suicide.
Tension prevailed at his house as his wife Swati arrived to attend the funeral. Swati was attacked by the deceased's family members, including women, men and youths. Accusing her of forcing her husband to end his life, they asked her to go away. The incident led to tension in the area. Visuals from local media channels showed a big crowd pushing and pulling her even as a man was seen randomly throwing in punches at the centre of the gathering.
Swati's mother, who accompanied her, escorted her to a police station where they filed a complaint against the family members of the deceased.
Before ending his life, Madhukar reportedly sent a mail to his parents, requesting them to forgive him.
