Police registered a case against the husband of a woman on Friday, whose body was found with the throat slit in a cotton field behind her residence in Bithyatanda, Mahabubabad, in Warangal district.
According to SDPO Ramprasad Rao, Mangamma (22) was married to Suresh (24) 2 years ago, and she had given birth to a girl child 2 months ago.
Suresh and Mangamma's domestic life was beset with petty arguments after the first 2 months, and these spates had continued till the time she came to her parents' residence for the birth of her child.
On Thursday night, Mangamma's parents had returned home from the market to find their infant granddaughter wailing in the cradle. They searched frantically for their daughter, first inside the residence and later in the courtyard.
They finally found their daughter in a pool of blood in the cotton field outside bordering their house, with her throat slit.
The parents immediately alerted the police, who arrived on the scene and took up investigations. The police, based on the version of Mangamma's parents that the son-in-law had blamed his wife for giving birth to a girl child, registered a case under Sections 302 and 498 IPC and named Suresh as the prime suspect.
