Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today inaugurated a dedicated police station for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) at Buddha Bhavan.
On the occasion, the CM personally inspected the station and launched its official website.
He also flagged off 122 HYDRAA vehicles, including 21 Disaster Response Force (DRF) trucks, 55 Scorpios, 4 Innova Crystas, 5 minibuses and trucks, and 37 two-wheelers.
Speaking at the event, Reddy said that the State government had established HYDRAA with the noble aim of preserving the historic city of Hyderabad and revitalising its infrastructure and environment.
He also said that Bengaluru was facing drinking water shortages due to poor protection of water bodies, Mumbai and Chennai were dealing with recurring floods, and Delhi had been forced to declare holidays for Parliament and schools due to severe pollution. Metropolitan cities were becoming increasingly uninhabitable, and Hyderabad could face similar challenges if environmental protection was not prioritised, he said.
He added that HYDRAA's role went beyond demolitions, and that it was also responsible for preventing water stagnation on roads, restoring power, and managing traffic during the monsoon season.
He urged HYDRAA's officials to treat people with humanity and compassion, bring the citizens' problems to the government's notice, and ensure alternative arrangements were made for the poor, while still dealing strictly with land grabbers.
