During his second leg of his election campaigning, TRS supremo and Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today launched a fusillade against his b?te noire and Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu for coming in the way of the Sitarama project in the combined Khammam district.
At public meetings at Paler and Khammam along with caretaker minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, the TRS chief vehemently criticised Naidu for "stalling the growth" of the Telangana. He advised Naidu to withdraw his letter to the Centre against the Sitarama Project and then come to campaign in Telangana for the upcoming Assembly elections.
"With what face will Naidu ask for votes when he tried to stall the projects and growth of our state?" KCR thundered.
KCR also slammed the Congress for ignoring the plight of the irrigation projects, though a 180-km-long stretch of the Godavari river was passing through Khammam district. He said that the Congress regime had deliberately failed to complete the Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects, and turned the lands in the district dry. YSR also directed the Polavaram and Dummugudem tail waters to the Andhra region, he alleged.
Attributing the lack of irrigation waters and non-completion of the projects in the district to the negligence and partisan attitude of both the Congress and TDP regimes, he said that the people should reject the People's Front comprising the two parties among others. The Congress-led front got directions from Chandrababu Naidu, KCR claimed, and told the people that voting for it was equivalent to them piercing their own eyes and hanging themselves.
Showering praises on Thummala for completing the Bhakta Ramadas project, he promised more welfare measures if the TRS got the mandate again in the upcoming elections, and asked the people to vote for the party and ensure its candidates' victory.
At the Palakurty and Warangal public meetings, the Chief Minister similarly asked the people to vote for Errabelli Dayakar Rao to ensure development of the segment.
