The GHMC has achieved a major infrastructure milestone with the inauguration of a parallel Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Falaknuma on the Secunderabad-Falaknuma broad gauge line.
The facility, built at a cost of Rs 52.03 crore, was inaugurated today by Hyderabad in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
The ceremony was attended by GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MLCs Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi and Mirza Rahmat Baig, MLAs Mohammed Mubeen and Mir Zulfiqar Ali, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, GHMC Charminar Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, GHMC Chief Engineer (Projects) Bhaskar Reddy, many corporators and public representatives.
The new parallel ROB, constructed alongside the existing bridge, is expected to provide a significant infrastructure boost to South Hyderabad. Executed by the GHMC, the project aims to transform traffic flow in the Old City by enabling conflict-free movement from Barkas junction (near G-Max Convention) to the Falaknuma bus depot.
The bridge will considerably reduce travel time and ease congestion on routes leading to Charminar. It will also decongest traffic around Global School, the Kali Mata pilgrimage routes and the Falaknuma railway station.
Local residents and commuters have reportedly welcomed the project, hoping that it will eliminate frequent traffic snarls, save time, and improve mobility across one of Hyderabad's busiest corridors.
