Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that Congress candidate Ch Srinivas Reddy would win the Dubbaka Assembly by-election by a huge majority.
Addressing a series of election meetings in the constituency on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the people of Dubbaka would crush the "arrogance" of the TRS on November 3.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was insulting the Dubbaka voters by distributing money and liquor among them to seek their votes. He alleged that KCR had accumulated huge illegal wealth through commissions and corruption, and was using that to commercialize politics and take them to the lowest level yet, making liquor and money his main tools to win elections since he came to power in 2014.
He asked the people of Dubbaka to accept any cash, liquor or other freebies the TRS offered them - he said that the money being distributed by the TRS leaders was anyway public money, and so the people had a right over it. However, he asked the people to vote only for the Congress candidate Srinivas Reddy on November 3.
The TPCC chief also exhorted the people of the constituency to remember that KCR had cheated all sections of the society - Scheduled Tribes and Muslims who he cheated by not delivering on his promise of 12% reservation in jobs and education, dalits who he cheated on the promise of three acres of land for each family, all the poor who he cheated with a promise of free double bedroom houses, and all the jobless youth who were yet to get the promised unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 per month. He said that none of the promises made by the TRS in the 2014, 2018 and 2019 elections had been fulfilled.
He said that the people of Dubbaka should also do a comparison and decide whether their lives were better in the present TRS regime or in the previous Congress government.
Reddy also warned the TRS leaders against misusing the official machinery to win the by-election. He said that the Congress would wage a strong battle to prevent the ruling party leaders from violating the Model Code of Conduct.
