Congress leaders hailing from the Telangana region might have made a dramatic sweeping
declaration of their intent to resign from their posts on July 4 for the cause of a separate Telangana, but prospects of their going ahead and resigning already look bleak.
For starters, the Assembly Speaker, Nadendla Manohar, is out of the country until 8 July. The Speaker is the one who is required to officially approve the letters of resignation submitted to his office.
Moreover, The next best thing, Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka, is set to leave for New Delhi on 4 July, and he is unavailable as well.
In the wake of such key absences, who exactly are the Telangana lawmakers going to submit their resignations to?
Also, depsite the "collective decision" of mass resignations, only about 25 of the 51 MLAs, 6 of the 12 Lok Sabha MPs, and 1 Rajya Sabha MP have agreed to resign from their posts.
MLAs Danam Nagendar, Toorpu Jayaprakah Reddy, P Shankar Rao, Mukesh Goud, Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Deput CM Damodar Raja Narasimha did not even attend the meeting of Telangana lawmakers.
Similarly, S Jaipal Reddy, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, Sarve Satyanarayana, Balram Naik, Suresh Shetkar and Anjan Kumar Yadav stayed away from the meeting.
