Will Review Power Tariff Hike: CM

Facing criticism from all quarters including his own party, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday promised to review the hike in the power tariff approved by the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Talking to reporters in his home district, the Chief Minister communicated the assurance that the government would take measures to ensure that the people would not be burdened further. He said that the "proposal" sent by the ERC was being studied, and that a final decision on the same would be taken by 5 April.

The Chief Minister asked the people to recall that the government had reviewed the hike in the power tariff last year, and had reimbursed Rs. 545 crore. He claimed that the current hike will not have as big an impact on the common man as is being projected by the media. (INN)
