Congress MLA G Veerasiva Reddy took strong objection to MLAs undertaking fasts at the New MLA quarters as, he said, the turn-out of people was disturbing the peace in the area.
Veerasiva Reddy wrote a letter to this effect to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar.
"Such dharnas are disturbing the peace in the area," he wrote.
It may be mentioned here that YSRCP leader Y S VIjayamma and her party leaders are on an indefinite fast since Tuesday at the New MLA quarters.
The Kamalapuram MLA said the remarks of ministers C Ramachandraiah and D L Ravindra Reddy were uncharitable. "The hike in power charges is not a unilateral decision," he said, "There is every chance that the Chief Minister takes a decision to reduce the burden on the common man." (INN)
