Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Tuesday, announced that the state government would place the report on AP's liquor syndicate before the Legislative Assembly.
In an informal chat with reporters in the Assembly premises, the Chief Minister said that the government had nothing to hide on the liquor syndicate issue, and that therefore, it would place all the details before the House.
However, he appealed to the Opposition to cooperate and allow discussions on the issue. He said the government was ready to answer all the questions raised by the Opposition parties.
Regarding rebel Congress MLAs, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the decision to disqualify them has been pending with the Speaker.
He said that neither the Congress nor the government was trying to pressurise the Speaker over action against the rebel MLAs, and said that the party and the government would accept whatever decision the Speaker takes in this regard.
The CM refused to elaborate on why the Praja Rajyam Party was still being treated as a separate entity despite its merger with the Congress. He said there were some "technical problems", and that the decision in this regard, too, rests with the Speaker.
However, Kiran Kumar Reddy claimed that the Congress was not afraid of facing by-elections. He hoped the party would win all the seats in the by-elections.
He also said that the Congress was in favour of holding Panchayat Raj elections in 3 phases. The municipal elections too will be held soon, he said.
The CM threatened to take criminal action against junior doctors if it is proved that their strike was responsible for the death of patients in public hospitals.
He slammed the junior doctors for adopting a stubborn attitude over their demands, and said that the Cabinet sub-committee has been trying to end their strike. (INN)
