Assembly Session To Resume From Friday
The session will continue on January 18 (Saturday) and sources say that the legislators may also sit on Sunday to continue the debate on the Telangana Bill.
The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly will resume debate on the State Reorganisation Bill on Friday, after a week-long Sankranti festival break.
The session will continue on January 18 (Saturday) and sources say that the legislators may also sit on Sunday to continue the debate on the Telangana Bill.
However, a decision in this regard would be taken on Friday during the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.
President of India Pranab Mukherjee had set January 23 as the deadline for the Assembly to send its views on the Bill.
However, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to appeal to the President to extend the deadline by another 10 days.
The legislators have proposed thousands of "amendments" to the draft Telangana Bill while the Seemandhra legislators have opposed all the clauses of the Bill.
While all other parties are in favour of continuing the debate, the YSR Congress Party has maintained that it would not allow the House to function unless it passes a resolution to keep the state united.
Further, the YSRCP wants voting on the Bill before continuing the debate. (INN)
