Will Move Anti-Defection Bill In Rajya Sabha: YSRCP

The Party demanded the suspension of the MLAs, MPs and MLCs who defected to other parties within 3 months of resigning from their previous Parties.
Hyderabad | 17th July 2016
YSR Congress Party MPs M Rajamohan Reddy and Vijaya Sai Reddy demanded the suspension of the MLAs, MPs and MLCs who defected to other political parties within three months of resigning from their previous Parties.

"MP Vijaya Sai Reddy will move a bill in the Rajya Sabha against the defections," Rajmohan Reddy said.

The Party alleged that the Lok Sabha Speaker wasn't willing to take any action against the defectors, due to which the MPs wanted the transferring of the powers of the Speaker to the Election Commission for swift action.

The Anti-Defection Law also needed to be amended to enable the disqualification of unscrupulous defectors to curb the cash-for-defections trend among Parties, Reddy added.
