Widowed, Orphaned Women In Telangana To Get Wages
"Distressed lonely women" in the State will now receive monthly living wages of Rs. 1,000 as per the new government scheme.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday announced a new welfare scheme for "distressed lonely women" in the State which will provide living wages of Rs. 1,000 per month to divorced/widowed women in the State.
The announcement was made by the Chief Minister in the Telangana Assembly immediately after the Question Hour amid applauses from all sides.
The living wages under the scheme would be implemented from the next financial year and the required funds would be allocated in the next budget (March 2017). As per preliminary estimates, there were about two to three lakh such women in the State, the Chief Minister said.
Stating that directions were issued to District Collectors to immediately enroll details of distressed women, the CM appealed to all single lonely women throughout the State to enroll their names with the government to avail living wages under the scheme. He also asked the legislators to take utmost care to ensure genuity of case.
While announcing the new scheme, the Chief Minister also took the opportunity to highlight the TRS government's efforts to ensure equal justice to all sections of people in the State by providing a secure life of dignity and financial stability.
