The Hyderabad office of the meteorological department today warned the people of the state to brace for a blistering summer as the mercury levels were slowly going up in the state.
The director of the Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, Dr K Nagaratna, said that some districts of the state - Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts - were registering one to two degrees higher than the temperatures normal at this time.
She also added that day temperatures of 34 to 35 degrees Celsius were being recorded in Telangana since the last week.
She said that these and other readings pointed to a possibility that the state would register 45 degrees centigrade temperatures in April and 48 degrees in May this year, as also witness hot waves throughout the summer.
