Telangana recorded a highest temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius on Monday.
This was at Medipally in Medchal district, bordering Hyderabad.
The highest temperature in history recorded on April 30 in Hyderabad, during 1973, was 43.3 degrees Celsius. If Medipally is considered part of Hyderabad, this year the city has effectively broken that record.
In the city itself, temperatures of 40 to 41 degrees Celsius were recorded, but it felt hotter than that, and many citizens remained indoors due to scorching sun. The moisture declined to 24 percent.
The weather officials have warned of high temperatures across the state in the coming three days.
