The mercury levels are continuously soaring in the two Telugu-speaking States - Telangana and Andhra Pradesh - since the last couple of days.
The coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of AP have turned into furnaces. The Amaravathi weather centre has said that the State was registering 4 to 6 degrees higher temperatures during the day, and that almost all areas of the State were registering more than 40 degrees centigrade temperatures for the last couple of days.
The centre said that the hot winds blowing from the northwest parts of the country were responsible for the sudden increase in the day temperatures.
The maximum day temperatures have already exceeded 46 degree Celsius in some places of the State. Turlapadu of Prakasam district reported 46.05 degrees centigrade, Krishna district reported 45.98 degrees, Maddipadu of Prakasam district reported 45.96 degrees, Ponnur of Guntur district reported 45.84 degrees, Narasaraopeta of Palnadu district reported 45.79 degrees, Arigipalli of Eluru district reported 45.7 degrees, Rajahmundry reported 45.46 degrees, East Godavari district reported 45.3 degrees, Bapatla reported 45.16 degrees, Kakinada 45.12 degrees, Guntur 45.07 degrees, Konaseema 45.01 degrees, Kurichedu 45 degrees, Nandyala 44.91 degrees, Vizianagaram 44.79 degrees, Duggirala 44.76 degrees, Ibrahimpatnam of NTR district 44.52 degrees, Tirupathi 44.31 degrees, Vijayawada 44.21 degrees, Nellore 44.18 degrees and Mangalagiri 44.15 degrees.
The north Telangana districts too are reporting high temperatures, even if not at those levels - the temperatures in many places are ranging between 42 and 44 degrees centigrade. And the Hyderabad weather centre authorities have said that the areas located in and around the State capital would report 38 to 41 degrees centigrade temperatures from Tuesday.
The authorities have asked the residents of the State not to venture out of their houses unless there was a necessity or urgency. They also said that the State would experience dry weather conditions in the next three days.
Meanwhile, in a shocking incident, a police constable working in the Ramakrishnapur police station of Manchiryala district died of sun stroke on Sunday night.
The victim has been identified as Mutthe Santosh. He is a resident of Ankatiwada of Laxettipeta town.
