Rajya Sabha Member K V P Ramachandra Rao was interrogated by the CBI in YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case for around 8 hours on Saturday, at the Dilkusha Guest House next to Raj Bhavan.
The MP was questioned mainly with regard to his close association with late CM Y S Rajashekhar Reddy, as the CBI suspects that he had been influential in various goverment-granted concessions to investors in Jagan's business interests, made during YSR's regime between 2004 and 2009.
As of now, Rao has only been summoned as a witness, and not as an accused. However, as he is likely to be questioned again, this status quo might change anytime.
The Telangana Advocates JAC, however, is in quite a hurry for that to happen. Gathering en masse outside Dilkusha Guest House, the JAC members raised slogans demending that Rao be arrested immediately, and that his properties be seized. They prevailed in submitting to CBI joint director V V Lakshminarayana a document allegedly containing proof of Rao's own allegedly disproportionate assets.
Rao, however, talking to the press after his interrogation, said the he was here only as a witness and that he had answered honestly, to the best of his abilities, adding that his "association" had been with YSR, and not with his son, Jagan.
