Wakf Board Curbs On Bakrid Prayers

The Telangana Wakf Board today instructed Muslims to celebrate Bakrid by following the coronavirus control norms, and issued guidelines for prayers.

The Telangana Wakf Board today instructed Muslims to celebrate Bakrid by following the coronavirus control norms.

The board issued some guidelines to be followed during the Namaz or prayers. Muslims of the state may attend prayers in mosques with upto 50 persons persons in a mosque and by maintaining a 2 metre distance from each other, and using masks and sanitisers.

Muslims may perform prayers twice to mark the occasion, the board said.

It also said that Mecca Masjid near Charminar and Shahi Masjid at the Public Gardens in Nampally would not be allowed for prayers.

The board also restricted Muslims from performing prayers at idgahs, to check the coronavirus spread.

There will also be no shaking of hands or hugs to exchange pleasantries as usual.

Large groups will not be allowed to congregate during the festival, either, the board added.

Purchases of sheep and goats may happen at open markets, the board directed.
