Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Nune Sridhar who worked on the Kaleshwaram project was today remanded to judicial custody in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case by an Anti-Corruption Bureau court.
Search operations were conducted at 13 locations including four in Bengaluru and six in Hyderabad, in addition to raids at the Kaleswaram Project office in Karimnagar, and a large volume of assets linked to Sridhar and his relatives has been unearthed.
Officials found that Sridhar allegedly amassed assets worth hundreds of crores through illegal means. Reports suggest that the market value of his unaccounted assets exceeds Rs 100 crore.
The ACB officials who conducted the searches then arrested him and sent him to the Chanchalguda jail.
The ACB will seek his custody to open his bank lockers.
For the unversed, the investigation was initiated following allegations that Sridhar, who was in charge of the crucial Gayatri Pump House in the Kaleswaram Project, had accepted commissions in the procurement of the Bahubali motors installed there. It was also found that that Sridhar oversaw the massive pump house built in Ramadugu mandal of the Choppadandi constituency.
