During the Navaratri celebrations from October 10th to 19th, the Kanakadurga devasthanam atop the Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada earned Rs 11.06 crores through hundi collections, and sale of darshan tickets and prasadams, said temple Executive Officer Koteswaramma today.
Speaking to mediapersons in Vijayawada on Sunday, the EO said that due to the coordinated efforts of the temple employees, board members, officials of various departments and voluntary organizations, the temple not only ensured darshan of the presiding deity to several lakhs of devotees, but also earned a handsome income.
Giving the split-up of the amount earned, Koteswaramma said that the temple had received Rs 5.88 crores in hundi collections, and Rs 5.17 crores through paid sevas, sale of prasadams and other services.
She also said that the temple officials had spent Rs 8.40 crores to make all the necessary arrangements for the visiting devotees.
