60 hours after 10-year-old Vaishnavi was kidnapped, her charred body was found in a boiler in a car garage in Autonagar in Guntur-Vijayawada. According to reports, she was killed barely an hour after she was kidnapped, and her body dumped in the boiler.
Her father succumbed to a heart attack on hearing the news of her death.
Vaishnavi's father Palagani Prabhakara Rao is a liquor baron in Vijayawada, and it is being suspected that his relatives have a hand in the whole deal. A property dispute is said to be the cause of the affair, involving the family of Prabhakar's first wife Venkateswaramma.
According to sources, his refusal to grant shares in property and his flourishing liquor and real estate businesses to Venkateswarammma's family, led to Vaishnavi being kidnapped in 2004. Further, he transferred half his assets in Vaishnavi's name, and none to his son with Venkateswaramma, Durgaprasad.
Venkateswaramma and her brother Venkat Rao have apparently hatched the murder. Also, after Prabhakar moved in with his second wife, his first wife's family had tried thrice to kill him.
