Arrest Naidu, Says Vijayashanti

Vijayashanti calls for Naidu's arrest, and challenges him to prove his dedication to the formation of a Telangana state.
Hyderabad | 7th January 2012
TRS leader Vijayashanti, on Friday, demanded that TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu be arrested for disturbing the peace in Warangal district with the implementation of his padayatra.

In a statement to the press, at the TRS Bhavan, Vijayashanti appealed to government officials to immediately arrest Naidu for attacking Telangana people with Seemandhra "goondas".

The Medak MP has demanded that the police immediately release all the 3,000 Telangana activists who were arrested as a precautionary measure in the wake of Naidu's padayatra.

Shanti questioned the state government as to why it is not responding to the violence, which, she said was taking place in the name of the padayatra.

She said, "At least now the state government should open its eyes now and order a probe into the violence in Warangal."

She alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Naidu have conspired to suppress the Telangana agitation by resorting to coercive methods and arrests using police force.

She challenged Naidu to stage a dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, if he is really committed to Telangana statehood. (INN)
